I think it'd be pretty neat if they released different models with the different pickups he used.

However reading the book about his black strat, it says that the red strat and others he used suffered from RF interference and excessive noise from the lighting rigs, pedals and high gain stage. So much so that their original passive pickups were changed to EMG-SAs to try and lessen the interference and noise.
I'm going to take off my anorak now.Fwopping, you know you want to!

folks who had racks as big as refrigerators and controlled it with Bradshaw systems had some pretty serious tone loss, Cornish is an improvement but it can't keep the signal 100% pure due 50 units of delays, effect processors, compressors etc. etc."There is nothing more fearful than imagination without taste" - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

I guess the thing that bothers me is that Jackson customs are, generally speaking, pretty obviously custom. Fender costums are difficult to tell from anything else that came off the line. Unless of course they are relics, which is assinine as far as I am concerned.
I do think that new electronics package on the USA Strat Deluxe is pretty interesting. I cannot remember what it is called at the moment, but it looks interesting.
Sorry for the rant,

$4k for it is crazy. Not as crazy as the $10k+ for the Yngwie. Doesn't even come with donuts.
Getting back to the Gilmour sig. I've read the book about it "The Black Strat". If you want to have some fun, buy a Charvel so-cal black w/ pickguard and make your own Gilmour._______________________

As a Gilmour nut myself, it hurts me that I don't have this guitar. However, not having the 4gs it takes to get one has a little something to do with it.
I still wished that they had priced this out the door at around the $2500 mark. I could have lived with that.

I wish I knew the right people and the magic words, because NOS is defnitely the one I want.
While I admire the relic, I kind of like the idea of letting the guitar tell my story with it. A relic, especially one pattenered after the use of another person, feels kind of like starting your story at the end of someone else's story. Just don't seem right to me.
But if I was getting the guitar as a collector's piece only, I would definitely get the Relic.
