i'm jumping into the acoustic world. i'm looking at spending less than 275.00. are the ovation's good in that price range?

Not in my experience. I'd look for used acoustics and focus on Alvarez or a Taylor Big Baby (though it lacks a pickup).

I had an Ovation Celebrity I bought in 89. Sounded sterile and thin like all Ovations to me. Sold it for a Takamine.
