Any idea of the value of a NECKTHRU red metallic, MAPLE FRETBOARD, original single/Humbucker configuration with Spyder Kahler w/ Autolach? Condition 9 out of 10. USA made!!! Would $1200.00 seem correct for such a rare piece?

There was one at the last guitar show I went to in mint condition for $750 or so. I don't recall if all the specs were identical, but it was definitely a Vandenburg (bubblegum pink....sweeeeeet).
EDIT: It was also definitely neck-thruLast edited by Axewielder; 08-01-2008, 04:42 PM._________________________________________________

They are somewhat rare, the quilt top trans finishes being especially rare. For a solid colour, $1,200 seems high, but then again, they are extremely well made, and great players. Is it worth $1,200? Try it out.
FWIW, I've NEVER seen one with a maple fretboard.

I think $1200 is a bit high. These only appeal to a small amount of guitarists.
You can get the bolt ons for around $500 if you look for them.
I'd say $800 would be more like it. $1000 tops and it would have to be minty mint for that.I'm angry because you're stupid

The neckthru Vandys are rare and usually command $1200+ depending on condition. The 'puzzle' graphic is highly coveted, and puzzle+neckthru just went for $1525:
The maple board neckthrus are extremely rare. There was a blue one about a year ago on ebay, went for over $1200.
I have a maple board Vandy, although it's a bolt-on:
You can see Adrian playing one like mine in this video:

neck thru Vandy's aren't extremely rare although they are much rarer than the bolt on models There are rare neck thru's though... the puzzle which is black and white and the rarer one is the puzzle which is white and black.
Solid color Vandy neck thru's in 9.5 condition usually fetch between $700.00-$800.00
The super rare versions could go as high as $1200.00
So.. what I am saying is $1200.00 seems at least $400.00 too high.

I've had two of the neck thru Vandy's. One solid color and one of the trans finished guitars. I would say that a maple board neck thru Vandy is a VERY rare guitar as far as Vandy's go even when compared to the Puzzle graphic. If memory serves me I've only seen two on Ebay (including this one) in many years, and it's possible that it was the same guitar both times because the color looks familiar. **EDIT** Just saw the comment up above about the blue neck thru with the maple board, that might have been the one I saw too.
So I would say that his asking price isn't out of the ballpark if you're taking the "rareness" factor into consideration. There was a guy on Ebay a while back that was buying every neck thru Vandy that came along. I can't think of his Ebay name at the moment. I've seen good examples of solid color neck thrus going for over $1000 at times. If you get the right Vandy collector seeing that, I'd say it will be sold.Last edited by WAR IN D; 08-17-2008, 07:29 AM.
