The pickups that come with Carvin guitars are their own brand. They sound pretty good, too.

Can you get a Carvin with neck binding? That is what keeps me from getting one. Why build such beautiful guitars and not offer neck binding?

The one I have has a Holdsworth pickup in the neck and a Duncan Pearly Gates in the bridge. My buddy's CT6 has the standard Carvin pickups and although I couldn't tell alot of difference between the bridge pickups I definately preferred the Holdsworth neck pickup for the LP type sound. It's really smooth and has tones of sustain. It also sounds really good when it's tapped.

If you plan on swapping Pickups, order the Carvin with covered pups. They route the PU holes a little smaller otherwise.

I found this perusing another site the other day. I don't know the specs, though.

Ah, cool. That's good to know. I know they're also available now with the two volume/two tone setup.

I'll try and measure the thickness of mine tomorrow just so you all will know for reference and can compare.

All I can tell you is what I spec'ed. An SC90 tele/LP hybrid thing with mahogany body & maple neck/board with black block inlays and a single bridge hum & volume. They told me they don't do block inlays on maple board & can't do the single hum single volume. Not very custom is it? It sure looks like a good deal, even if you might not be able to get exactly what you want.

They can do single hum, single volume on any guitar, not sure why they wouldn't for the SC90. Some of their sales people have no clue what they're doing, so you might have to speak to another person. It's true about them not doing the black blocks on ebony, though.

Holy Murphy that is a nice top on that thing! I just went to the Carvin site and priced out a DC747. $1600 with every feature I could ever want (I'd probably remove a few so it'd be down to like 1400). If I get the money, I may have to order one.

I measured the body on mine and it's 1 5/8" on the outside and 2" in the middle. Since mine has the floyd I was able to measure up through the trem cavity and get an accurate measurement for the maximum thickness in the middle. Somebody measure a LP and let's compare.
