  • Got myself a reversed headstock strat.

The winner of four similar guitars I tried, in the Musicstore in Cologne, it has a lovely neck and a really lively acoustic sound.

However, I'm not really that charmed with the reverse bridge pickup and the rather flimsy looking pickguard.

So I'm going to replace that pickguard with a Black one but I'm still not really sure about adding a Humbucker while I'm at it.

Is that one of those 60's reverse Strats? The one that used to be in the Classic series? I was thinking of buying one of those a while back.

3 single coils looks alot better on a strat than 1 hum and 2 singles.

Well I fitted the three single coil guard and it looks and feels so much better, maybe I killed the Jimi vibe but if you guys felt how flimsy the original pickguard was you would have done the same thing.

I liked it the way it originally was. In fact, I tend to favor single-layer pickguards.

That black looks really good against the body...good choice on the pickguard change...

When I tried raising the pickups, the pickguard was bending so badly that I feared that I would break right through it, the rubber underneath the pickup heightening screws was so tough that I really had to push hard to even make them go up or down. So I went "Fuck this, I'm changing it." because I like my guitars to be sturdy, the result is a much more Gilmour look than a Jimi Look and I'm fine with it.

Like the Black pickguard/ S-S-S combo, but black pup covers and black knobs would look better.

Also, a Black pickguard/ with 1 Humbucker and 1 Single coil would be sweet with the reverse headstock.

Black hardware would also be sweet!!

i think it looks good with the black cover. The white one was too bright against the far creamier vintage look pickup covers, tho i liked the reverse bridge pickup.

Pretty tough to do anything "wrong" here.
It's a Strat... it all pretty much works... it's just about personal preference.
                    Looks sweet!

Yeah if I were going to go with a humbucker for the bridge I would go JB Jr or something that fits in a normal single coil form factor. Strats just look wierd to me without 3 single coils.

I like the changes...that's a great looking strat now with the contrast imo
Play some "Bridge of Sighs" on that one!

With pleasure, that's always one of my favorite Trower songs, together with "Too rolling stoned" I don't know if you heard the new Robin Trower and Jack bruce record "seven moons" but it's a killer, really top notch.

I like it either way...kinda leaning toward the white pickguard, but that's just me. This must be Strat day, I picked up a USA Standard today. 50th Ann. model.
I still keep practicing though.... Mostly because I hate my neighbors.-MakeAJazzNoiseHere

Seven Moons crushes! Easily his best album in recent years. Jack's voice is just awesome as well. A beautiful mixture of Cream and Trower that just blew my socks off...Glad to see someone else that liked it!
