It was owned by another company.
He sold out in the 80's I believe.

Interesting, but very gimmicky and overdone. And to think Dean Z's original designs all had such clean lines. I'd love to have a vintage Cadillac or ML just for the hell of it.

At one time, the pointy "V" headstocks were smaller and in my opinion, cool as hell. I don't know who, when or why they decided to make them larger and more gaudy.

Dude ain't that the truth!!! I really admired and respected Dime as a player and I loved Pantera.
But after an artist passes and the 'tributes' are done, should there just be a time when we say ok that's enough already?
They are marketing and selling Dime's name, and sometimes (more often than not) the guitar that it's attached to doesn't deserve it.

How many different configurations of 1 or 2 designs can they make in the name of Dime? There's what only 53 so far the last 2 or 3 years? Damn.

Dean is a good company, but they need to shift the focus onto the current players and what's going on with todays music instead of selling gear based on a deceased player's legacy.

Agreed man, Dime was great and they are shitting all over his name. The problem is it sells really well.

I liked the Dean From Hell, the Dime Slime, and the Far Beyond Driven,because they were true tributes that were done tastefully and executed well. I also like the first couple of the Razorback because they were a new and fresh look on an old body shape.
I also like the V255, because that's one of many reasons I've never owned a Dean was for the 24-3/4" scale.

But now it's getting ridiculous! They are just painting them different colors and naming them after Pantera songs (Cemetary Gates) and whatever else. It's getting very un-original and down right distasteful and disrespectful to Dime in many ways.
I know he had a big heart and hooked kids up with guitars and equip, but it seems that Dean is now selling based on that logic: "Dime wants guitars in the hands of every kid" Which is cool, but guess what? The parents are buying. And Dean is cashing in.

Dime would probably not have gone this direction with his line of guitars and they know better. Not to be cruel, but I hope that this fad passes soon, and they let his good name rest.

I agree. If he were alive, he would not allow it to go to this extreme. He was a really cool guy.

You are right they are a souless company who's only priority is profit. They would sell their own mothers out to make a dime.

I think Dime's brother and possibly his girlfriend were left in charge of his estate. I am pretty sure the Ex. GF owns the rights to the Razorback, but I could be wrong.

In any case. I doubt the realize what people are saying about Dean and Dimebag guitars. I doubt they keep up with the guitar communitty. My guess is, they believe that it is an honor that so many guitars have been made in his name. Plus, they are cashin' in too, so their view may be a little biased.

Just guesses. Love Dime myself. Just bought the Dime Dunlop Crybaby from hell today.
