To bad about the binding but maybe a wise choice. I know you could do it though. Black hardware is different and a cool idea. I don't remember if you mentioned what you had in mind on the finish. Solid, burst, or flame?

none more black. i figured it'd be easiest, seeing as the factory finish is still on the back of the neck, and sides of the guitar.

I'm looking for a Les Paul and I want a black one, no pickguard, and black hardware, and maybe EMG's I just love the look of an all black guitar.
Black hardware would look very nice on that. And since you can't make it look pretty with binding, you can go the opposite approach and make it evil.
Also a fine tuner tail piece would be tits on the Standardio. And maybe Sperzel locking tuners also.
Not sure what pickup would be a good one? Maybe a JB/Jazz? Or a Duncan Distortion/Jazz? (I think this was Rhoads used on his white LesPaul)

I know what you mean about no binding, but like you said, it's a lot of work. The black on black idea sounds really cool.

Man, that would be so time consuming. How long do you think it takes to get it completely level?"Dear Dr. Bill,

binding? a long ass time. it's a lot of filing, that's for sure. when i've rebound stuff before, it's always been an "over the frets" type. there's ways you can make it a shorter process, like tracing the fret profile onto the binding and cutting it to shape with a jigsaw, but eh, fuck it; i'll glue it on and file it down.

I am thinking a natural bind Sully, or spray a different colored base, say eggshell white , mask binding and then black paint.
You will never get a good binding cut unless you remove the neck. Removing the neck on a LP is a real PITA.-Lou" I do not pay women for sex. I pay for them to leave after the sex ". -Wise words of Charlie Sheen

That's a good idea actually. Eggshell white, or a light creme color that already has that aged hue to it. If done cleanly it would look convincing enough to pull it off. Or maybe a light colored stain on the edges? That might look good also.

i was thinking of painting it on as well. i dunno.... i'll have to see. personally, i think it'd be kinda lame to have the body bound, but not the neck, so i'll most likely leave it. i saw a black lp with duncan p-rails in it, (which is what i'm planning on using) and it looked really cool. i may go all black with it.
