so, i have been advised NOT to do this on a les paul for reasons that zeegler alluded to in a previous post. here's why:
yikes. there's no telling what would be waiting for me on that neck heel. i may still contour the backside of the cutaway, as that may still be safe. not sure, but i'm thinkin' about it.

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I didn't want you to ruin the guitar after you'd done all this work to it. I assume that most of the strength in a mortise/tenon joint like that lies in the bond between the sides rather than the back of the joint. However, having said that, there is no excuse for Gibson not building them with a solid, tight fitting joint on all sides. It's simple carpentry/joinery IMO. Just pure lazy.

yeah, but it's a bit of a step back. i'll be adding some splines to the neck break; i just don't trust it.

great videos man,sat and watched all your stuff this ....morning
good call on the splines...suggest using carbon fiber as you can inlet a much smaller carbon fiber rod and get maximum strength versus wood...and god knows Gibson headstocks need all the help they can get
looking forward to more video...and BTW,sadly,we have no Dunkin Donuts in my neck of the woods, and Starbucks doesnt lend itself well to home-luthiery,so mainly I do the home-brew
