poplar was made for opaque paint.

do it white and it'll look like Alex Lifeson's Signature guitar from the 90s.

maybe a black/white checkerboard if you want to get fancy and shit.

You should do a flip flop. Paint the front of the guitar so it looks like the back and visa versa. I bet nobody ever saw a trem on the back of a guitar and the cavity covers on top.
Serious.. that guitar would look good in a super heavy metal flake silver (with the big flakes) and the back of the neck painted gloss black. I'd do the headstock in silver metal flake too.
