I've been looking at the neck and I think that's the way it was finished. The lines are too sharp to look like someone was messing around and it feels perfect.

some necks with finish on them are pretty "sticky",i'd say it was done for that reason.the way its stripped on the higher part of the neck would be for you'r thumb access for soloing.some players use steelwool to "knock off" the varnish on un-fineshed necks also,,i'd leave it as is 'cuz that axe is killer..........

The next time you do give a guitar away make sure its a guitar I dont already own.

I can guarantee you that the neck stripping is nothing to do with ESP. Thats a home job. If it feels good, great. I have no problem zipping around the neck on mine though. I suppose it does make it slightly unique but I'm still cringing when I look at it.

More than likely a LTD too, yes? I think there's a JH200 or something with that pattern.

Jeff Hanneman has an ESP MII Custom with Digital ACU camo on. Its a rough copy of one of it

yeah it was an LTD, but it still looks amazing, made me wish i were right handed for a sec. I would hate ACU camo on my guitar only cause i have to wear the uniform everyday.

Cool score man i love camo finishes. You should finish the job they started and strip that neck imho.
