some necks with finish on them are pretty "sticky",i'd say it was done for that reason.the way its stripped on the higher part of the neck would be for you'r thumb access for soloing.some players use steelwool to "knock off" the varnish on un-fineshed necks also,,i'd leave it as is 'cuz that axe is killer..........

I can guarantee you that the neck stripping is nothing to do with ESP. Thats a home job. If it feels good, great. I have no problem zipping around the neck on mine though. I suppose it does make it slightly unique but I'm still cringing when I look at it.All men play on 10. Never gonna turn down again.

yeah it was an LTD, but it still looks amazing, made me wish i were right handed for a sec. I would hate ACU camo on my guitar only cause i have to wear the uniform everyday.My Childrens
