  • My New Strat

I picked up a new Billy Corgan Strat the other day and thought I'd share a few pics.

I was looking for a hardtail strat and when I saw this one it reminded me of Jake's white Charvel. I didn't know who Billy Corgan was

I replaced the white knobs and switch tip with black. I thought it looked better than the white. I thought about swapping the pickup covers, but I kind of like the look with the black rails.

I really like that, but it looks so familiar I know what I'd do to that one!
Cut the headstock down to a smaller profile add a JB and 2 SDS's and you're set!

if you aren't sure who Billy Corgan is, get GISH by Smashing Pumpkins. I'm not a SP fan but that is an amazing rock album, super aggressive hooky songs, and the drumming by Jimmy Chamberlain is just sick.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

Not a big fan of SP or Mr. Corgan but that's a nice strat.

That is sweet! I didn't know they did a signature model for Billy.

Some people don't even know that Corgan is a stratman but if you look at pictures of him throughout the years...

It was his main guitar from "Gish" on.

                  Corgan during the "Gish" era

Corgan during the "Siamese dream" tour. This sunburst strat was his main guitar for many years.

Corgan during the 2007 smashing Pumpkins tour, playing a prototype of his signature model.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

Smashing Pumpkins "Drown" live at pinkpop 1994. Corgan really proves himself here as a potent player.

Congrats. I bought a start this summer (American Deluxe Ash, Butterscotch Blonde), and love it, love it, love it! I never thought I'd buy a Strat, but it has great tone and is the most playable Strat I've ever had my hands on.

                      Enjoy it!

He mostly used Lace Sensors in the 90's if I remember correctly. Blue or Gold Lace Sensors and a big muff and you've got that SP sound dialed in... not that I would know anything about that...

I've had it for a little over a week now and so far I love it. The neck is very nice. The pups are a little different than what I'm used to. Not very stratty sounding, but not like the SD JB+59 or EMG 81+85 that I'm used to either.

I hate him and his band, but I saw the review of that strat in Guitarist magazine and it looked like a fantastic piece of kit. I'd love one of them, good score.
