  • Anyone know a good luthier that makes set neck guitars?

I am looking for a US luthier only. I am not doing business with any overseas luthiers like Shamray.

What I want made is a set neck SG with woods I handpick and inlays I design. They have to be cool with allowing me to put my trademarked logo on the headstock. I dont want a luthier putting their unknown name on my headstock front but the back is cool. I also want the Gibson SG headstock and body not their version of it.

I want to make sure they are competant as I have seen some disasters of recent "Garage" Luthiers. It is hard to find one online by just using google. I would prefer they just copy my 67 SG when they make my custom SG if possible, not really into interpertations of bodies done by pics over the internet.

My problem so far has been luthiers telling me how I want to design my guitar and insisting on having to use their ugly headstocks or logos or their discount woods they got wholesale.

So is their a shop or person anyone can recommend for my needs?

I don't know if you're willing to deal with someone in Canada or not, but Freddy Gabrsek will make you a dead nuts SG copy if you want. You'd have to ask him about the logo, but I'm pretty sure he's flexible on that too. Check out his site. He will pretty much do ANYTHING you ask for, and I will personally vouch for his work as being flawless.

Thanks for the link Zeegler I will definatley consider him. I have a 67 SG that I am restoring and have been getting quotes for that so it would be nice to send it to the same place thst builds my SG so they can just copy it.

I am still curious to see who others recommend.
