  • Jim Root Tele #2 - FINALLY HERE!!

After waiting for 5 months, my new #1 axe has finally arrived! Sorry about the bad pix, but indoor photos always suck...

Comments: Wish the ebony board was a SLAB like Jackson/Charvel, and I'm beginning to warm up to th EMG's. They still aren't as good as passives IMHO, but I don't hate them either. I absolutely LOVE these guitars - they're EVERYTHING I want in a tele!!

Both guitars got a cleaning, new strings, and set-up today. Can't wait to get some mileage on them...

Pics of the older brother, just for fun...

Nice - I've been tempted by those...

I'm not Tele fan at all, but those are really nice. Very clean and modern looking.
        Sleep!!, That's where I'm a viking!!

I'd swap out the pickguards and necks so you'll have:

          1) All white tele with maple board
          2) All black tele with ebony board

and maybe get some white EMGs for the white one.

That's just me. I was looking at these too but am going to get an MIM standard tele and I've ordered all black parts from stewmac and a sd lil 59 for the bridge and an sd single for the neck. Thing's gonna look sweet when I finish.

You've got a pretty good idea going on the tele you're creating. I've put hums in teles before (Dimarzio Chopper T), and they killed! Love teles for the playability.

As far as changing mine up - nah... All black would be a bit boring, and I'd never sink any money into EMG's if they didn't already come on the guitars. Ski season is upon me anyway - that's where my money is going now.

Love the black one with the maple board! How are the necks on these? Tele like or fatter?

I tried one last month, the guitar itself is really sweet and nice sounding , i know jim is a big charvel fan and i expected the neck to be somewhat slim and flat, but it wasn't the neck is pretty fat and round kinda les paulish, thats what turned me off from buying it.. but if you dig bigger necks then this is a killer tele.

Pretty much spot on. It reminds me of a medium-ish LP profile as well. I've played a Jackson or two that had a similar profile as well though. The board is a 12" radius, so it is flatter than most teles, and has a modern "C" profile to the back. It's not Jackson thin, but it's still a fast, comfortable neck. I like them just a tad thicker these days anyway. I'm NO shredder...
