  • A Steve Morse type of guitar project

Okay I assume that we're all aware of Steve Morse and his crazy four pickup guitar with everything-but-the-kitchen-sink switching options

This guitar has been extremely high on my GAS list and because I lack the finances to buy one I decided to start tinkering with some parts and this is what I came up with so far.

The body is a solid alder Jack & Danny Jazzmaster type of body which has a swimming pool rout, making it easy for me to install whatever pickup combination I can think of. The Floyd Rose is a Gotoh, the pickups are leftovers from a lot of "Dude, can you replace the pickups of my guitar for EMG's" jobs and the neck is one of the many spare necks I had lying around.

I'll keep you guys updates on how this one will devellop.

I'd been thinking about doing something much like that, only with a more conventional pickup arrangement, and with the top of the guard cut more like a strat - looking forward to seeing the finished result!

Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

If it makes you feel better, Steve also feels that 4 pickups is crazy/silly for live work. EBMM is now offering a 3-pickup signature Morse, the SM-Y2D. Steve said in an interview that the 4th pickup was really too subtle for live work.

As for your project, that's really cool. The body will really stand out with 4 pickups and a Floyd on it. Very cool idea on your part and I hope it turns out really well for you.
