  • RPG Guitars/ My First Project

So I just got the guitars I purchased from RedPlanetGuitars today and have big plans for them all. These being my first real project I hope I can get some help and advice from all the JCFers who do this sort of thing all the time.

    the new neck

here is the RR style. My Plans: Swap the neck out with one pictured above, repaint body, neck, and headstock white with black bevels and black hardware to include a real floyd pending dimensions are the same. and lastly pickup swap with some Dimarzios. heres how I imagine it..

My Questions: To remove the current paint how heavy a grit of sandpaper should I use? What kind of paint have you had the best experience with? keep in mind I dont own an airbrush or a workshop with all the right tools.

    Next.

the Warrior style. My Plans: Pickup swap with some Duncan Blackouts, warmoth neck (undecided on the specs). here is what I had in mind

My Questions: How do I install active pickups without routing a battery cavity? I think Ive seen setups with the battery in the control cavity.

    And Lastly

The Kelly body style. My Plans. I really want a blood splatter/drip graffic over a white body, so Im not gonna really do anything with this one til I can focus on it 100%. New neck, maybe warmoth. EMGs, possibly fill middle and neck pickup routes but again not really sure.

So Im gonna go pickup supplies this weekend based on what I've said what exactly am I lookin for. Fell free to add to the list. Thanks in advance.
    The Supply List:
    sand paper of varied grits
    painters tape
    soldering iron

    ?guitar paint?

Wow! Good luck with your projects. I think it's a shame that Jackson doesn't have more production lefties. They really would be reaching a bigger market if they did.

Are these bodies made of real wood? If not, I really dont see dumping a pile of money into them. that's just my opinion.

Looks like the only thing really usable are the bodies, cause the necks and hardware all are cheap quality.
Might be better off just buying bare bodies from a reputable source and building from the ground up, cause you'll end up doing just that to have these up to par.

They look ok though, but the contours are way off.
