So this has been buggin me - why can Hamer continue to make the Standard, a guitar which is really an exact copy of the Explorer. How can Hamer get away with it and ESP, Jackson, etc. cannot?
The pay a license fee to gibson, and have since they started.
I think if they had tried to license this shape about 10 years later then they did, it would have never happened.
The started the Standard back in the 70's before they became popular.
