  • Anyone recognize this Kahler-equipped ESP Flying V ?

I got this a little while ago from someone who was "refinishing" it. I thought it was a BC Rich at first... after looking at some headstock and inlay pics of some ESPs its definitely looking like an ESP of some sort.

I'm not expecting a lot of love for ESP here but was hoping maybe someone recognizes the model.

An old ESPee Kerry King signature? I immediately thought of that what I saw that guitar.

So did I, thats why I thought it was a previous BC Rich sig. of some kind.

The neck profile feels about 99% the same as my BC Rich Kerry King KKV too.

But AFAIK, the Kerry King ESP sig had a dildo/hockey-stick shaped head stock.

The wings look kind of odd to my eyes - it might just be the angle, but they look kind of 'narrower' than the KK guitars, or most other Vs for that matter...

They are pretty narrow, but oddly comfortable at the same time (more similar to playing on an X shape guitar).

It's a Kerry King model, albeit a later version, they changed the Banana headstock because of licencing problems with Gibson, that's also why only Kramer (which is owned by Gibson) is allowed to use the banana headstock.

                Speaking of freaky ESP models...

This is a page from their 1983 catalog

                  i agree with neilli.

also no bevels and missing a control for the SPC?

and ESPs have volutes on the backs of their necks by the headstock, Norlin-Era Gibson style. even the early ones, IIRC. this one is missing the volute.

The inlays scream BC Rich but the headstock looks like an ESP, or perhaps it's a BCRich with a re-shaped headstock?
Does the neck/headstock appear to be modded or re-painted?
The control cavity looks like a BCRich as well.

The thin body shape is throwing me off. It might have been shaved down maybe???
It might be a no-name import copy of a BCRich as well? It's hard to say really.
Does it have a serial number anywhere?

Schecter also used those diamond inlays on some of their guitars.

Atleast it's not plywood, so it's worth fixing up that's for sure.

It looks really long and skinny. I've never seen a BC Rich or an ESP like that. The only V I've ever seen like that was a KXK V.

looks like a bc rich speed V or whatever they were called in the late 90's. looks kinda like it has a modded ASM headstock....the tip sanded sharp instead of rounded.

but that's just what i think.
