  • 92 Les Paul Classic

    finally found one locally from the era 1990-93.
    if I'm getting the right info, it's basically a 59/60 reissue before Gibson started their historic series.
    whatever, it's killer..

    Those are the best years for Classics. Looks super clean too. Enjoy the guitar!!!

      Pebber,

      Does the S/N start with a 2 (not 02)?

      Is there thin binding in the cutaway?

      Does it say "Les Paul Model" on the headstock or "Les Paul Classic"?

      Yes, it's basically a reissue of a 1960 LP before Historics which started in 1993.

      1960s had thin necks. 1959 was a lot chuckier, and 1952 -1958 were baseball bats.

        I had a '95 Classic that was stinking awesome. Like a moron, I let someone talk me out of it. Two weeks later, he tripped over it while on stage and snapped the headstock off.

          Don,

          sno = 2 4386
          headstock = Les Paul Model
          cutaway has thin binding

          Why did you ask?

            that means it's the rarest/shortest-lived and most accurate reissue of the 1960 Les Paul, before they changed the specs and the Historic line/Custom Shop took it over.

              What a beauty! The first batch of Classics were entirely gold- neck and back included, if I recall, back around '90 or '91. Nice acquisition to you collection!

                Sweet! Goldtops make me feel funny in the pants.

                  I had a 93' Classic in Bullion Gold - one of the ones that was all gold , not just the gold top. Loved that guitar!!! I think I did OK though. I traded it straight up for an all original 81' Silverburst Flying V. Nice Score.
