  • Elm as a Tonewood?

Wonder where they got the idea for the graphic, but ELM? Anyone ever played ELM? If so, what does THAT sound like?

I put a link in here for the $134 BIN listing, but I gotta tell ya, I don't know were "Hoston, United States" is.......

Why the hell doesn't Eddie pick up a goddamned guitar and play something?

I had a Steinberger Spirit that was ELM, and it sounded pretty good, but i dont know about a full size guitar body, cause there would be alot more there to resonate, so it might not sound as good.

I'll stick with alder, maple, and poplar as my body choices.
    Mahogany is good too.
    Pass.

Wow. Learn something new everyday. ELM.

Do they grow ELM trees in SE Asia? I guess I shouldn't ask. I should google it.........here we go:

      "Fencerow Chinese Elm"

"A Chinese elm .......my interest (the species native to Asia) is tied to the tension between admiration of its beauty and comfortable urban fit and apprehension of its potential to become a weed, springing up like dandelions and crowding native species."

Be-ware! Chinese Elm has the ability to propogate into the guitar hangers of you local music store very aggressively. Tone!

I guess it can't be any worse then the cedar they use on the JS Jacksons and the Agathis that esp uses on thier low end models.
