Because the Y2KV has two extra frets, silly! :ROTF:

Just think what Schenker could have done with two more frets!

          Great V's guys!

I was the guy that bought Mark's black V and I absolutely love it! It's an exact match to the one I had in the 80's myself...here is a pic of it shortly after I got it...

Mark, I can't thank you enough for such an awesome axe. It gets played nearly every day along with my 335.

Flying V's always remind me of Pre-Hamer Judas Priest for some reason. I used to watch that Live Vengeance DVD once a week or so. K.K. always either played his Strats or his V's in that video.

This has turned into quite a Flying V thread. Awesome.

I always loved KK's Gibson V's and he was the reason I bought this one.

James Hetfield in a very recent guitarworld interview.

"I got this white V from a guy who sold it to me as a real Gibson and being as gullible as I was I went for it. Then I went 'Why does it have a bolt-on neck?' and 'Why does it say made in japan?' but I didn't care, it was a white V, Schenker! The guitar I wanted to have.

Here are the pics of my Gibson Vees. The Fiesta red is a 1979 refin. Before anyone blasts me for refinishing it, I bought it for $150 about 8 years ago. Some brain surgeon had decided to repaint it. It was originally black and the "professional" shot the guitar in white - did I mention he didn't bother to mask the fretboard.
The silverburst is an 81', the Black Korina 58' Reissue I bought brand new in 1983 (it is the B Series - second run). The Schenker replica I built and subsequently put on Ebay with no intention of selling, but someone put a good offer and I figure I will build another.

That's really nice Uli! Thanks for sharing those V's man!
                      Here's my roundhorn Gibson-ish V
It was an '83 Kramer Focus 4000, that I converted to a lefty and I recently made the pickguard for it, to give it a KK Downing type of look to it.

                      Some day I'll own a '79 lefty Gibson V....

That may be more difficult than you think. I was just reviewing my Flying V book and I can't find any production totals for left-handed guitars. The only production left-handed V I can locate is the Hendrix Re-issue model. Best of luck! I'd love for you to prove me wrong!
