Actually Steve Clark is why I bought this back in 1989

sorry about the bad 80's pic. anyway.. I don't know that Steve would really be considered relevent to todays guitarists. Though Eric Peterson (I had to look up his name, which is funny since i had an 'incident' with him in the late 80's) from Testament did reference Def Leppard and the song Wasted on one of the guitar things he does on "on Demand"

It would be nice if you could order a "Steve Clark" from Gibson, and just get the same options. It doesn't need to be a signature model, everyone who cares would know who the guitar was a tribute to.
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

Yeah, I care. I started playing guitar in 1983, the year Pyromania came out. It was largely because of the song and video for Photograph that I became so interested in guitar. Later that year, I saw them in concert, my first concert ever. Another huge impact on me.

Yeah, 1500 might be a bit high too. I saw one for the high 800's a while back. if I had the money i would have picked it up. Seemed like a waste of a les paul to carve it up and put a kahler on it

I see your point but, I feel that they are way more popular and impacting than a band like extreme and Nuno has a whole line of guitars (not hating on nuno, love his playing) and they are selling like crazy. Why? Its because they are great guitars that have unique features and looks. Seriously, (most) people arent buying the pc1 because it has Phil Collen on the Headstock. I think there would be a market for a non cherry sunburst les paul unlike their past sig LPs like the slash cherry burst, jimmy page (all of them), gary rossington, ace frehley, and others im sure.

As far as the Kahler thing, they've put them on the new shredx guitars. If the sentiment is that the Shredx's(v's and explorers) arent les pauls, then Gibson could build steve's firebird with a kahler and market it along side the shredx's but for people who dont like black or emgs.

              Sorry for that tangent

a few others i'd rather not mention
Nigel Tufnel: (holding up a guitar) The sustain, listen to it.
Marty DiBergi: I don't hear anything.

Nigel Tufnel: Well you would though, if it were playing.

I just feel that steve has not gotten the respect he deserves from gibson or the guitar (manufacturing) community. I mean even Jason Becker (again not hating(altitudes is mind blowing)) has a sig replica being made now and he is less well known than Steve.

God I hate to say it but...I want one. Ugliest fuckin thing I have ever seen. I wonder how many they made. I will have to go down as one of the oddest biggest mistakes that gibson has ever made and will probably be valuable because of it. Like the "modern" (sp?), they are getting pretty valuable.

It's tough to compare Steve Clark to Nuno or Jason Becker in this context. Nuno and Jason are recognized "guitar heroes" above and beyond the bands they played in--their names are more likely to sell a guitar, even to someone who wasn't around in the '80s or early '90s. But Steve Clark was more of a "band guy" and not a guitar hero. He didn't get that much attention of his own until his unfortunate demise. Def Leppard's music during his era didn't give much soloing space, and Phil seemed to be more of a presence in the videos.
