Chip off the old block

So last night while playing my Squire, I did a full dive with the tremolo and while slowly bringing it back up, I heard a pop! It's a blessing in disguise since it's obviously cheap hardware, so it's time to upgrade. I'm thinking about replacing it with this Gotoh bridge. Does anyone have any experience with these? I know Gotoh makes some quality parts.

After looking into it further the block comes off the baseplate, so I would just need a replacement block. Does anyone know where I could order one, and is there anything I should keep in mind when picking one out?

I'm familiar with the website, but I don't see the blocks offered on there. I even looked through the last catalog they sent me and I didn't see it there as well.

for all intents and purposes, you might be able to rebuild that area with some jb weld. you can get it at any home improvement store. lots cheaper than replacing the bridge.

True, I could patch it up or use the hole next to it, but the block has cracks on it and it looks like it would be unreliable. Are blocks for non-floyd bridges uncommon? I know that you can upgrade blocks on FR's, so why not the same for a strat style trem?

After exchanging a few e-mails it turns out they don't have blocks for Squires. I should just get a whole new fixed bridge. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Get a Gotoh Wilkinson bridge, I have one of those on MY squier strat.

As you see the mounting holes are oblong shaped, that means that you can use the stock mouting holes, without having to fill and redrill them to make this bridge fit. It'll also improve the overall sound of your guitar.

The best blocks on the planet. You can go with the pop-in arm. They pop-in but have screw threads as well. I have them on all my Strats now including on my builds. Great sustain. All the post 70's Fender Strats including Custom Shop Strats have crappy "powdered metal" blocks, you could equate that to pot metal, just a little more advanced. The Callaham's are billet solid steel.
