  • Anyone tried Xaviere guitars from Guitar Fetish?

    Here's the website: http://store.guitarfetish.com/xaviereguitars.html

I'm wanting to get into a cheap tele and these seem like a good deal but I haven't talked with anyone that has tried them.

I have one of the semi hollow tele's. Monaco Yellow with rosewood board.
Really not bad, about mid level epi/schecter quality. I strung it up with 8's and it's my PUP/wiring tester.

I have a casino type with the p90's on preorder.

I like the GFS stuff, because I can play with different pups or even a different type of guitar without breaking the bank.

    They are fun little toys.

I have one of the first run of XV-500s. It's a fantastic guitar, and sounds unbelievable. The only issues I had with it was the cheap Kluson style tuners (I've never liked Klusons anyway), and the pickups. The pickups were supposed to be GFS pickups, and Jay from Guitar Fetish told me that they were just early un-logoed GFS pickups. They didn't sound all that good, so I put SDs in it instead. The fretwork is great. It came with a nicely cut bone nut. The pots and wiring is all top notch. I've used it live, and would do again in a second.

I noticed the newer version of this guitar is a lot cheaper, and looks quite different. I can't say for sure, because I haven't played one, but for the price, I doubt they can be anywhere as near as nice as the first run.

I liked the GFS pickups I got from them a few year ago, for the $2 new I paid for the set on ebay it was worth it, but based on my experience with them I wouldnt pay more than $20 for any of thier pups.

I was tempted a few times to try out one of their guitars just for the hell of it, but it just never happened.

$209 for a nice looking LP with a flame top? Are these made in china? Are they epi or agile quality?

Well I'm really considering one of the Teles. I appreciate the responses.

How would you say they hold up to a MIM Fender tele?

They are not bad vs the MIM. Cheaper too.
Flatter board on the X. It's 12in, like a gibby. Also a little wider at the neck join. Very comfortable to me, but, I was raised on Gibby's.

                One thing.
The fretboard needed a cleaning hen I got it. Seems like there was some type of oil on the RW. It wasn't dye, but more like oil.
