Yeah, if both cost about the same, then I might as well just go with Jackson.

I'll play with the CS Generator a bit more to finalize some details, then get exact quotes from Jackson dealers, and from Ran.

I remember seeing the website of a Scandinavian luthier, he has production models and customs that look very similar to the Jackson Rhoads, but he puts very Nordic / Celtic touches on them... anybody know which luthier I am talking about? I thought I had bookmarked the site, but apparently not.

I've been to that site before, and I was actually just on it the other day for the first time in awhile, but I can't remember what the hell it is now.

Yes, that's the site I'm thinking of. Somebody linked it in that Jackson machine gun guitar thread.

Yeah, I was talking about back when Ran was all "custom".

Yes, Amfisound is the one I am thinking of... they got some really unique / beautiful design elements

I think I have enough choices at this point... so now it's just a matter of deciding exactly what minor details I want, and getting quotes from all 3 custom shops (Jackson / Ran / Amfisound)

Thank you all for the info supplied so far, if you got more, please keep them coming

Certainly worth a phone call or email to Lee Garver at GMW Guitars!
Most likely would run you about $2900.00 and only take 5 months to
deliver !! Jackson is going to take 16 months... uh

I'll have to go look up the email I had sent them. I must have put in something weird then if it kicked up the price that much. This was for a neck through not a bolt. I'm actually curious now, I'll have to email them for another quote then.
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

Please let me know about what the quote you at Ran. I'm really curious now how mine got a 4k quote when everyone else is in the 1200 to 1400 range.

Yeah, but, Lee is only doing bolt-ons now.
I tried to get a set neck tele in early 08 and he said no.

Sure, I'll do that in the next few days and post it in this thread.

Custom Ran's are more expensive than they were they havent been around $1200 for a long ass time...

A Ran probably wouldnt be worth it for soemone stateside...

I'm sure if people spent more time or were more willing to try new designs body and headstock wise ran would make more of their original stuff...

Poland like Japan dont ahve the same copyright laws that the us does, heck i've seen plenty of brittihs builders make the same shape body and headstock of gibson and fender stuff...

The next Ran's I order are going to be their own body/head shape..

Amfisound are cool in that they have new spins on the RR...

When I talked to the owner of ran about continually making copies he didnt sound that happy about doing it, but it's making him money and he still makes other more original guitars they just arent as many or as noted...

I dont think they make any production stuff cripes they were expecting a build time of 14 motnhs last time I got quoted...

Jackson's prices seem to have gone down and the build time has been pretty quick for most people....

And I dont think Jackson has any artist customs that resemble a 27 fret angled board RR...
