I shouldn't be spending money on guitars right now but it was the only way I could make myself feel better! This is a 2003 Gibson Flying V Custom, basically a blinged out V with Les Paul Custom appointments such as bound body, neck and headstock. One piece mahogany body. I could do without the gold hardware but what can you do. They have them in white and black which are really killer looking, white was actually my first choice but I couldn't find a reasonably price one. The Cherry is growing on me quickly though, can't wait to see and play it. Thanks to the guys at 12fret.com for making me a fair deal.

Prices can be all over the place. New they seem to be listed for retail around the $3,300 range. Silverburst is a significant upcharge for some reason. It is my opinion that the proper price for a used one in mint condition that might have been strummed a little is in the low $2,000's, I paid $2,500 for the cherry. But recently a used white and black each sold on ebay for $3,000+ an I saw a Gbase dealer sell another white one for the very high $3000 range. So what do I know.
Check out jeffsguitarvault.com who has sold a few, there is a white and silverburst on his sold inventory and you can read a little about them. He just got a new one one in gun metal grey which is available. But to special order one from Gibson will probably cost $5,000. No thanks.

It's been a drag waiting for it, we actually did the deal weeks ago but 12fret won't ship until the weather warms up. Apparently the nitrocellulose finish that Gibson uses is extremely susceptible to checking and they don't want it outside in frigid temperatures. Supposedly if you get one really cold and then open it up in a warm room without letting it acclimate lines can run across the finish right before your eyes. This week's weather is going to be mild and I think its shipping out today.
