They don't really have to scoop it.
These are neck thru. So you can actually move the entire neck and bridge up and have the fretboard meet the body where ever you want. Just keep the scale in relation and you should be good.
Unfortunately, to the eye of most, doing that compromises the look, even though functionally, it works. That said, the fret access on this one is great. I guess you get used to it after a while, especially with this shape.
Beautiful guitar, but the headstock just isn't working for me.
It doesn't flow well with the body.
It's soft and smooth right up until you hit the lock nut.
I see what you mean about the smoothness. If you removed that point from the headstock and just had that end rounded off if would be perfect. Everything else looks great and I'm sure it plays/sounds amazing though.

One thing is surprising Rick, when you see these headstocks in person, it does really change your opinion; mostly because of the 3-D nature of it but due to its functionality as well.
This is a prime example of a headstock looking better when reversed. However, I have to agree with Joe, it's a little too "sharp angled" compared to the rounded edges of the body.
I've been helping Lee get his photo booth together with some background & additional lighting recommendations, so Lee sent me a pretty cool body shot. (He needs a little more balanced lighting but a pretty kick-ass quilt).

I think the body looks great !! The headstock seems a bit too pointy for a nice rounded Firebird body. I'd like to see a pointed Firebird body with that or a more traditional headstock. Either way, I'd like to have one !!
