I beg to differ on that, they are far superior to Jackson's budget X and JS series. They are without a doubt the best bang-for-the-buck budget guitars currently out there.
My Eclipse for example blows away my Gibson Les Paul Studio which had cost me twice the amount of money.
I have to agree, I have played the upper end LTD's and they are some nice guitars
I don't like the smurf caps myself though
the pup can pretty much be anything, since BKP does custom bobbins and covers/open pickups for a tiny upcharge, or free of charge..
i got a miracle man and VH II with allen poles.
measure the resistance, that will tell a lot more than just the looks. a warpig will be over 20k
You can't play no muthfuggin' arpeggios on a tuba...
I have a old LTD. Not sure where its made, because it doesnt say. It does feel a LOT different than the newer Indonesia-made LTD's and so I presume its made in Korea. I got it for $350 with case on the bay.
its a neck-through and from its tone, I feel its Mahogany. I would LOVE to hate it, but this fucker is all for fast-playing licks and shredding I tell you. The action is super-low, but still there's no buzzing. I LOVE my Yellow Bengal SL2HT, but this guy is a different animal. The neck is super fast and slick even though its a painted neck, and the whammy is so freaking smooth and even sounding that I feel my DK2M's trem is far too rigid. And this fucker stays in tune for so freakin long. I have a cheap $30 guitar fetish pickup in it but it sustains so well...much longer than my SL2HT. Again, I would love to hate it, but I just cant. So, I leave it out of its case, prepped against the wall where my 2 yr old can easily grab it and give it a nice thrashing now and then.
I just got a indonesian made MH401. At first I was not happy with this model no longer being made in korea but It's a really nice guitar. I am so happy with it ( I love this neck shape)that I have sold and am selling some of my guitars.
I had a Korean LTD a few years back... it was a gold EC-300P (stacked P-90 pickups), and it sounded and played great. I bought it from someone here, had it for a couple years then sold it to someone else here.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
This sounds pretty cool. Hurry up and post some pics!
That's a nice find and in a GC no less. Hell better than anything in there at that price point. There are so many 500-1000 dollar used guitars that are wickedly kick-ass that I just can't bring myself to spend a ton on new.
I have bought a couple of new Gibsons finally but its hard to pass up an SD Soloist for a grand and then lay out 899 for an Epi Les Paul, or 4 grand for a CS LP. I'll just take 4 old Jacksons please. Or an Esp like you bought for 7 bills. Congrats
Why the hell doesn't Eddie pick up a goddamned guitar and play something?

I brought it home with me in order to measure it. It's 23.1K. 11.8K on one bobbin and 11.3K on the other.

It's funny you mention the Bengal. I have my Bengal SL2H and a 2002 LP Std. at the apartment in TN with this new axe. The SL2H still wins. It's just got really great wood or something. The ESP feels heavy and solid compared to the SL2H, like it's made of maple.
The camera batteries are charging and I should have pics Monday night when I get back to Nashville.
