Just got a Gibson Melody Maker (59 Reissue)

As basic as basic gets but its an amazing guitar! I was really blown away by the sound of this guitar and its one single coil pickup,although it sounds more like a P90! Very resonant with great sustain and excellent overall quality. Just a great little guitar thats a blast to play and one of the best guitars i`ve ever had.Without a doubt the best guitar you can get in its price range imo.

I have an 08 M/M and installed an rs upgrade kit (500k super pot 460k tone)and vintage rs cap,a Duncan little 59 pickup and wow what a great sounding guitar.
Great bang for the buck indeed.
These M/M went up to $369.00 this year I got mine last year for $299.99 which I thought was a steal.
I have a vintage 59 M/M with 2 hums and and can't wait to get it up and playing again.

$369.00?........try $489.00! I just got mine brand new and its an 08 as well. (worth every penny and then some though imo!)

Did you like the stock pup? And how does that little 59 compare?

Well maybe I read the tag wrong!! still well worth that.
The little 59 is bad ass in this guitar,very fat sounding and lots of grunt.
When I pulled the electronics out I metered the vol pot it was 246k and the tone was 220k.
The rs kit is the big reason for the huge sound it really makes the little 59 sing.Lots of midrange and clear high end.It took a while to dial in and tweak the pickup but she rocks big time.
BTW what color did you get?I got the white one.May go get a tobacco burst next, found one in a pawn shop the next town over.

Sounds like a winner.

I got the Tobacco Burst or as they call it Vintage Sunburst. I like the stock pup alot right now but i`m sure i`ll change it sometime in the coming months.
