  • My new guitar that I already owned

I know that sounds really confusing. Let me explain. For the past couple of months, I have been dying to get a new guitar. I hunted through Ebay, Craiglist, and a couple of local shops. I then remembered that I have a guitar in my gargage. I know, for shame...Anyway, I monkeyed through the garage (which is a storage unit) and grabbed my prize. The first guitar I ever owned, an Aria Pro II ZZ Deluxe (modified). Amazingly the case is still near mint.

I opened it and saw this:

I was amazed at how good it looked. Here's a another shot:

I didn't clean this before photos

Everything is original except the trem which was swapped out for a Kahler c.1984. Besides a clean up and a fresh set of strings, it's in really good shape. This has a tone knob, my Jackson does not, so it's kinda cool being able to roll the tone down and get a deep sound out of it when I play Sabbath. However, there is a BIG difference between this and my Jackson. I guess the moral of the story is, if you want a new guitar, just look around you.
Yesterday is history; tomorrow is a mystery; but today is a gift; that's why it is called the present.

I just bought an Aria Pro II SG knockoff last week.

The quality on these guitars is great

My first guitar was an Aria RS Classic in pearl white. I still have the body, but it's been radically changed from 3 singles and a v-trem to a single hum, Lynch paint job Kahler Killer 2700 series trem.

I think Aria's had a great neck shape. Also, I think they have a 2 1/4' wide neck pocket, because a DK1 neck fit perfect in the pocket. Screw holes and intonation are off, however.

My first real guitar was a 1985 Aria Pro II RS Knight Warrior. They are amazing guitars. Good compnents, as Don said, good neck shape, they could have benefited from larger frets as they are a little gibsonesque.

I had a ZZ for a couple of days but couldn't adjust to the body style so I swapped it with the store for one on their strat shaped models. Stripped the finish out and changed the bridge pickup out to a "Fury" pickup made by some farmer in Saskatchewan hehe. I still have the original Aria 2 bladed pickup in my junk drawer. And the original pickup from my 1985/86 Japanese made Kramer. I wish I still had the old JB that I put in that Kramer, it definitely had serious mojo.
