  • My new RG-570BKL Mutt

I recently traded for an Ibanez RG550L, which is a lefty RG550. After it arrived, I broke into my frankenstein ways and mated the Lefty neck with a Righty RG 570 body. What I got was a pretty killer guitar. All I need now is a cool pickguard to make it stand out. Tell me what ya think...

Now if I can only find a righty reverse headstock logo!!!!

I wouldn't put a pickguard on it - I mean, that's what makes it a 570 - grab a 550 body if you want to do a pickguard. Just my opinion.

Anyway - looks really cool - love reverse Ibanez headstocks (or backwards, in your case!). Why not put in some odd colored Dimarzios to make it "pop?"

      I agree^^^

Try bestdecals.com for a logo. They will make you anything you want really.
So now you have a lefty RG550 w/ a righty neck? I'm tempted..

It's cheaper just to drop a pickguard on the body rather than buy a body plus pickguard. I really like the Ibanez V1/V2's, which are on these older RG's. I think the days of "WOW" guitars are over for me.

I have a lefty RG body complete w/pickups and Edge trem. The volume/tone will have to be changed as they don't work (frozen), but a good project. PM me if you're interested.

Its not hard to do the overlay pickguard on that Ibanez body. I have found over the years that sometimes the pickguard doesnt quite line up with the original controls. You might have to fudge them a bit or just make your own pickguard to match the existing hole locations.
If your not worried about the body just enlarge the holes to match the pickguard.

This an overlay mirrored pickguard I did on an Ibanez RG170 as an experiment. I went with rings just to break up the mirror a bit more.
