I've got one, had it for about 10 years now. They are solid players, the neck is awesome. The Spyder is OK, but not quite as stable as a Floyd. It could be the age, though. I picked up a bunch of NOS parts from Kahler, like the pivot posts, knife edges, intonation screws, and a set of wrenches. It seems to do alright, but I don't abuse it as much as the Floyd, Steeler, and Edge trems.

I posted pics in your butcher story, before and after refin.

Guys, just so I'm crystal clear on this...... did the later models say "Fender" instead of "Strat" on the headstock and did they also come with an original Floyd?

If that's the case, I would probably be more interested in a later one because of the Floyd. I've never been a Kahlar fan and parts might be tough to find.

            Fender on the headstock
            Floyde LOW-PRO trem

None of these were made in USA

Lots of parts were shipped from Japan to USA for assy

            Hence, the corn-fusion

            Trust me on this one

            edit:
Fender was not much of a company back then, as they were being bought out by the employees, etc.

there are 2 of these HM strats hanging on the wall at Daddys in downtown Boston as of yesterday. (I popped in to see what they had).
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

They only have one on the website.

                Bummer.

                  You're talking about daddys.com right?

I'd never heard of them (under a rock maybe?) but they've got some misrepresented stock there in Jacksons. I'm not the greatest at spotting them but they have an "SLS3" that isn't string-through and looks an awful lot like an SL3 (HSS, sharkies w/no binding) and an SL1 that looks to me line another SL3, again HSS, sharkies w/no binding.

What SL1 has sharkies, no binding, and doesn't say Made In USA on the headstock, and why would it be worth $1299?

But the HM Strat they have listed does look pretty sweet.

I recently became a big fan of them after I found my second Vetta cab there, which I had been trying to find for weeks.

I wouldn't be too harsh on them about mis-identifying an SL1. I mean, if you walk up to someone on the street and say, "Hey, Gertrude. What visually constitutes a Jackson SL1?," she'll probably smack you with her purse and call the cops.

True enough. I'm not saying they did it intentionally, but I believe it's an SL3, used... which isn't worth anything close to $1200! I hope whoever sold that to them got $800 for it or something.

that SL3 is in Dedham right near where I live and they have it hanging tagged as an SL1. I almost got into it with the sales guy, whos was positive that it was a USA SL1.
                        what a douche.

Hirsh Gardner (the old drummer for New England) is the store manager at the Boston Location. He is a bit better at tagging stuff correctly.
The guys that work in the Dedham store are all f'n clueless.
