Anyone know what the expected price of a Gibson custom shop guitar is?

Flying V rear route, jack on the inside of the lover V horn (or like a RR1 if they are willing to do that. but that's my .02 cents thrown in) either HXX or HXS. I have to assume tune pros or string through, I'm not sure my friend is a OFR guy or not.

I am going to assume mahogany with maple top. no idea of solid color or trans - again i'll assume trans or sun burst. I'm also going to add body and neck binding even though he didn't. (Hey I might as well spec it out for myself too! sheesh.)

any idea if this would be 4k range (which is what he's hoping) or well above at this point?
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

    Go here.

But I fear they will be more expensive because THIS little number...

The Custom Shop Zakk Wylde V

... will set you back $7056.

So given how that one is a production model, I fear that 4K is a little... how can I put this... hopeful on having a one-off made.

Holy crap! I just looked at some of their prices. I can honestly say I have never EVER seen a gibson guitar worth 12k... not with out it having been played by someone famous and dead.

I think I'm going to just direct my friend to Warmoth or convince him King V's are better.

a custom shop gibson is priced like a private stock PRS. it's an investment that plays - though the private stock is really a great guitar....

Certainly, the best guitar I ever played was a PRS private stock classic 24 in whale blue with solid rosewood neck. I actually had to put it away and not look back because of being heartbroken with the realisation that I would NEVER be able to afford it.

Cool V pictured above except for the location of the selector switch.

Or a Masterbuilt Strat worth that (Malmsteen at 12.5K). They aren't mean to be played. They're meant to be hung on the wall like art.

No real sense buying a CS Gibson unless you understand that Gibson CS is the REAL Gibson and everything else is built for the proles.............. because it sure appears that way. Gibson just got tired of not making the money on the perceived value of the guitars, so they raised the prices, created fake collectibles (like the Franklin Mint) and charged a premium. They just cut themselves in on the collector action.

I bought a new (2008) R8 a few months ago from a dealer who was dropping the Gibson dealership (in tough economic times Gibson raised the dealer buy in about 40%) an dthe dealer chose to drop them. hell, every LP guy already owns 4 of the anyway). So I got it new for $2650 but I would never have paid 34-35 for it. Too much money.
Why the hell doesn't Eddie pick up a goddamned guitar and play something?

...and the stupid Zakk paint job. Plain vintage white top would be very nice though.

Is anyone else making round horn V's that aren't insanely over priced?

                      Epiphone does.

And Hamer's Korean made Slammer series offers one.

And then there's the Dean V

And I haven't even mentioned the Tokai one.
