Well, Kirk was never a Jackson endorser... He played Gibson V's for years, subbed in a Fernandes strat, a Tom Anderson and a Jackson RR, then went to ESP before ...AJFA. He still plays the RR live - I think tuned to D for Sad But True. Honestly, when I saw them for the Death Magnetic show @ Newark, he was kind of lost in the mix... which was a big letdown for me.

Interesting... I know about the "Hamstercaster" and of course all of his ESP guitars. I was under the impression sometime around Master of Puppets he moved from the Gibson V to playing the Jackson V. I seem to remember him playing it quite a bit when I saw them on the And Justice for All tour, but maybe that's just my imagination. That was a long time ago.

he was never an official jackson player. in the mid-late 80's just about every "famous" guitarist had at least 1, but many were never endorsers - metallica included.
        GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

        and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Yep. Even James had a white King V on the MOP tour.
Kirk supposedly has another Rhoads with a Floyd, and he also has/had a Roswell Rhoads.

The RR is indeed tuned to D now. He's a gear whore and has a shitload of guitars! He's got some Ibanez RG that he sometimes smashed on stage and has rebuilt, and I've also seen a pic of him playing an Iceman.

As for Kirk...he's ok, I can take him or leave him...nothing special IMO.

I'd love to check that out one day - that was the one thing that was off putting to me - the Gibson scale - I really prefer "correct" Fender scale!
Its a guitar I will never sell. Les Paul with Floyd and "correct" scale nothing but WIN! The only thing that annoys me is ESP started using this silver plastic which mine has for inlays and Kirks had Pearloid. I wish I had specified that.

Now that I am not such a huge fanboy its a cool guitar for home or the studio otherwise people kind look at you funny if you gig with a full on sig guitar like that one.

Yeah but its much more rare than "skully" so I'd bet a lot of people - even guitarists - wouldn't even know it.
