Zakk Wylde Gibson Les Paul Camo up for sale, possible fake?

Hey Guys,
Just stumbled across this ad for a Zakk Wylde Les Paul Camo. He has it listed for $750 obo. The pictures he has up seem to be of a Gibson Zakk Wylde Camo edition. If I'm not mistaken aren't those worth a heck of a lot more? Just wanted to share to see if you guys could tell if it is an actual one or maybe there's something funny going on.

Fake, camo has maple fingerbaord

Oops!!! It is maple. Although I still think it's a fake. I don't think it should have a production serial #. It's a custom shop model

That's what I was thinking. Also, it seems as if it shouldn't have a Made In U.S.A logo on the back of the headstock?

Yeah, exactly. And shouldn't it say "Gibson Les Paul Custom" on the truss-rod? :think:

That is a Chinese fake. Note how the serial is really stamped in. Compared to this one on the bay.

Well guys, I think we have solved this 'mystery'! Thanks for the info, I am quite terrible at spotting authentic Gibsons, but atleast now I know a bit more.

Someone else may have better info, but I do not recall any Gibsons using a scarf joint on the headstock. Most Gibson necks are one piece or three piece. I could be wrong though.

Just look at the position of the knobs. That should be enough of a giveaway.

Knobs and binding are usually a sure give away.

D'Oh! Knobs and binding WERE a dead give away!!!!!! Guy has put it was made in Japan in the ad now haha.

I'd doubt Japan and lean towards made in China

Take a look at a Gibson. The two sets of knobs are parallel with each other, and parallel with the strings, and neck of the guitar. On these Chinese copies, just like this one, the knobs are all over the place, and not even close to parallel with the neck.

Yes...it's says "Made in Japan"! Definitely from Musoland in Japan. They make incredible copies of all American guitars...
