I mean the Marble-finished Fender HM Strats from 1990. I've had the Blue Marble one for a while, but I'd never seen one in Red until last week. I quickly jumped on it and it is great !!! Let me know what you guys think !!
Wow! Those are really nice looking! Don't think I've read or heard much about them, but I'd rather own one of those instead of modding a standard strat! Can you tell me more about them?
"This ain't no Arsenio Hall show, destroy something!"
Well these are referred to as the "heavy metal" Strats. More commonly you'll see Strats with the Strat headstock, 2 singles, a hum and a Kahler Spyder trem. Those trems suck. Anyway, these typically have a pointy headstock, 2 Dimarzio hums, and either a Floyd Rose PRO or Kahler Steeler trem. These guitars are really a treat to play and hear. The older Dimarzios really sing !!!
I need to tell ya that this red one has had the Kahler trem replaced with a Floyd Rose Original trem and I forgot to put the string locks back at the nut. I also forgot to put the switch tip back after cleaning her up !!
Wow, those are awesome looking. I used to own a HM strat in the late 80s, but I never saw the marble finish before. I always regretted selling mine, and have been thinking of getting another one for awhile. Fender should really reissue those.
They are very Talony, or would that be Heartfieldy? Either way, very cool axes.
Funny you should say that, they share the same pups, trems, knobs and have a similar headstock. You have to consider that they were made by the same Japanese guys at the Fujigen Gakki plant as the Heartfield and Ibanez guitars. Quality stuff for sure !!!

(btw, love the Spring hat !!)
Yes, I noticed that. I miss my Talon. It was the one with Dimarzio pickups, Floyd Rose II (could be wrong on that one), and dot inlays. Is that the Talon II, I forget? Mine was the metallic red finish. Damn that guitar was awesome. I don't know why I got rid of it.
Yeah Zeeg, that was a Talon II. I have a Mystic White one for you if you ever feel the urge !!
I don't think it's in the cards right now. The wife has been getting annoyed at the constant buying and selling of amps lately. Maybe in the future if you still have it. I'd sure like to see pics of it.
Wow. Those are exactly what I'm looking for except with maple board. So will an original Floyd drop right in place of the Kahler licensed Floyd? I'm hearing conflicting reports on this. Also, when did the headstock start saying "Fender" instead of "Strat?"
