  • Ordering another warmoth, need help

So I am going to do a Firebird, mahogny body with figured top, dyed blue.

I am wondering should I go with string through or a stop bar tail piece? I was going to go with a floyd rose but decided i have enough noodle bars on my jacksons and other warmoth.

    suggestions?
In the future though I need to remember to not buy guitars while on Nyquil

Stopbar is classic. Stringthrough looks like a guitar trying to be dainty, like a violin.

Then again, with a figured top, you dont' want much covering any part of it.

Then again, it's what, 1" wide and 4" long compared to the rest of the body which will be wide open?

    Stopbar.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.

      Why not a Bigsby Trapeze?
Not one of my favorites but the Firebird is probably one of the few guitars that actually looks decent with that setup IMO.

+1.. Trap tailpiece would look great.

A second for stop bar. As large as that body will be, it won't take anything away from the figured top. String-throughs only look right on certain guitars, anyway.

I say string thru...Stop bars to me are too Les Paulish...String thru gives it a nice clean look and you can even get the holes drilled to follow the contour of the body.

                      Lovin the T-shirt, Sully!

                      EDIT

Just noticed the lefty neck on that right handed 'Bird, then again, it may infact be a reverse-body, left-handed 'Bird, so I'm stumped

                        Thanks Dred!

The neck is an old Chandler c/j style from the late 80s. It's lefty/righty; there are position markers on both sides of the neck.

The neck i'm using is an old Chandler too - been drilled and filled more than an Asian whore during Fleet Week.

                            good lord! Ok you win!

Cool I'm glad to see birds are popular. I can't order mine until later this week. Then it'll take a couple weeks to come in. i'm actually thinking of putting a floyd on there now.

if you get a floyded one, keep in mind that their firebirds may be thinner. i'm pretty sure that the center block is 1 5/8" and the wings are 1 1/2". if that's the case, you'll either want to not recess it, and you may also want a shorter block on the floyd. double check with them, but it's good to ask.
