  • Charvel neck on Kramer?

I've got a late '80's Kramer Striker(600ST I think). Does anybody know if a Charvel Model series neck will fit and work okay? I know the bolt pattern will be different but other than that will it bolt right up and work fine. I really like the guitar but sometimes I wish it had a different neck. I really like the feel of the Charvel/Jackson necks and thought about picking a model series neck up off Ebay for it. Since it is a cheaper made in Korea Kramer I'm not too concerned about turning a classic into a mutt. I've ended up with an OFR on it and a Screamin' Demon pup in it so I'm pretty happy with the body and sound. The Floyd is non-recessed. Thanks.

Nope the Charvel neck is for a 2 1/4" neck pocket the Kramer pocket is the same as a Fender.I would sell or trade for a model series Charvel.
Keep the Kramer intact you should have no trouble selling it for respectable dollars.
    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Thanks. I've been kicking that idea around as well.

Not for a plywood 600ST he won't. I've got one of them. The necks are pretty nice, though.

You are correct on the plywood version I was asuming it was real wood.
I agree the import Kramer necks are damn nice.

Actually I don't think it's plywood. I have taken a dremel and removed some paint in the control cavity and also the trem cavity and it looks to be solid. It doesn't say Striker anywhere on it but it has a SE serial# and I think the S numbers were all from Korea. Also I had a Striker at one time I refinished and it was definately plywood. The layers were clearly visable and it was noticably heavier than this guitar. I did read though that some of them were made from multiple blocks of wood being glued together and then the body cut from that large block. I suspect this is the case with this guitar. The neck is nice but I like the neck on my 650XL better. That's why I thought of getting a model series neck if it would have fit.

Hmmm. Is it H/S/S with five-way switch, one volume, two tone, coil tap switch and the crappy single-locking Floyd Rose II trem? Those necks said 600ST on the headstock and had the bigger Kramer logo.

Could it be a 600 or a 610 series? They have the the 2 letter serial number(usually SF or SE) serial numbers but aren't made of plywood.. At least the ones I have aren't plywood. It would have the big pyramid Kramer logo with no model number on the headstock.

Actually, the body will reject the neck unless you keep an IV drip of Jersey Mojo attached for the 1st three months.

I have a repaired Kramer neck I might consider trading depending on what model series neck you have. Mine came from a 600st.

Me, too on the Striker, and on the refinish. I had a 300ST Explorer-head and I want to say the other one was a 200ST and was a "beak"-head with a pickguard, both were plywood. I am under the impression that all of the Strikers were plywood based on that, but I could definitely be wrong.

Nothing wrong with the "multiple blocks of wood" - most guitars are multi-piece bodies, 2 or 3-piece is pretty standard, if it's 5 or 7 that might be getting kind of ugly.

It is H/S/S but with three toggles and a single knob. It had a Floyd Rose II on it when I got it. It has an OFR now.

It does have a SE serial# and the headstock and logo looks just like your pics and a blank truss rod cover. I at one time thought 600 or 610 but all the pictures of them I could find had five way switches. Here is a link to a thread I started about it on the Kramer forum a couple years ago. It has an old picture from when I first got it.

It might be an older 600ST then. I do seem to remember reading something on the Kramer forum awhile ago about the older ones with the three switches and only a volume knob.
