Thanks, G! I kinda thought I was done with it as well, but once that Les Paul project showed up last summer (holy crap, it's almost been a year!), it rekindled the interest. When I found the mylespaul forum, I got crazy inspired. There's guys on there that build some amazing Les Pauls.

I've got about 4-5 things going, so it's easier to post the compilation videos, which I plan on continuing.

    thanks all!

Kick ass stuff, Sully. I LOVE swamp ash strats. And the Korina V is smokin. Please post more as that build goes on. ...Honestly, with the recent Gibby-body false alarm, that's what I was hoping to order from the custom shop. Would've loved to get a NT Jackson roundhorn V in korina.

That's some very undeserved, yet high praise. Thanks for the kind words. If it's any consolation, I learned GBTR ohhhhh, about 23 years ago. Keep playing it slowly.

Great stuff Sully. I route bodies the exact same way, except I never use the forstner bit first. I just don't like leaving the little pointy holes at the bottom. It takes longer just using the router, but the bottom is all smooth, just like a Japanese schoolgirl. I usually do it in 3 or 4 passes.

The part I really hate, is using my 16" long 1/4" drillbit to drill the holes for the pickup wires. It can be a little scary. So far I haven't messed one up though.

I have a horizontal drill press ( older Shopsmith) that works well for the wiring holes and takes the worry out of it for me. It also serves as a drum sander, drill press and if need be a lathe. I couldn't live without it.
I use a forstner bit like Sully for the initial wood removal and smooth the bottom with the final finishing pass of the router.

Thanks guys; I don't go as deep with the forstner bit, so that way the router takes out the little holes, and I DID have a mishap last weekend with my 16" 1/4" bit! I was drilling the wiring channel from the bridge pickup to the control cavity, and was about 1/8" short of the cavity. Yep, came out the back of the guitar. Thankfully, the cavity was on the smaller size, so I lengthened it a bit, and now it's taken care of.

I have a drill press too, but I'm far too lazy and impatient to actually line up the body correctly and clamp it in place. The fear of fucking up all the work you've already done makes it so much more exciting.

Even more fun and scary, is taking a router to a 29 year old Les Paul. I just routed my 1980 Deluxe for full size hums. All went smoothly though, and she's ready for some real pickups now. Please no lectures about the horrible thing I did.
