  • Ironbird

Found this older BCR import ironbird today.
Cool green and black crackle too 99% guitar one clearcoat issue but very small and easily touched up.Pretty light weight so I knew it wasn't plywood.
Trem post spacing looks like the same as a JT-6/Floyd so I may swap a JT-590 or Schaller in there.
Nice neck profile not too thin at all.Pickups absolutly scream, trem works pretty good as is and comes back to pitch just fine. Was actually in perfect tune when I got it home.
Scored this at a local pawn shop for 100 skins with OHSC.
Not sure mfg date on these late 80's is my guess. It's a platinum series so not the bottom of the barrel.

Thanks it plays reasonably well with the rusty strings.Thought I was out of strings but found enough odd ones to make a set so I will tear into this right now.
Just noticed it has Schaller pick ups no wonder it sounded good.
Glad I keep all my odd strings.

Update.Dropped a JT-6 in perfect fit. I eyeballed the stud spacing and thought it would work. Tried a floyd LP just to see and nope the Floyd is just a bit wider at the pivot points.I had to shim the neck for more angle and that made it a bit more comfy to play.
The guitar really came alive lot thicker tone and more sustain, more mass I guess.
Its a really great player now.I love when things go right.
Not Schaller pickups after all just look the same with the pebbly finish on the bobbins.Still rockin' pickups tho'
