Wow, nice score! Play it in good health.

I once attended a live clinic with Vinnie Moore. It was in Charlotte, NC, sponsored by the great Reliable Music (RIP). Moore was really cool, and was an excellent communicator when it came to teaching his techniques.

quite sure that there are plenty of neck through bound guitars that are shit
First off, its pretty much understood that neck-thru guitars have better sustain, plus they have a smoother heel, not that little block, and the neck color matches the body.
And IMO guitars without binding look sloppy, unless it is a maple neck and board. Many high end models are bound. So gmbob22 I am saying that if others do it, you should want to do it to compete. Even though I prefer it, regardless, it's what they should do to compete.

Although, on this one, the neck color and the heel are fine.

Maybe this type of Ibanez quality is what you're looking for:

          Prestige 3120

          Neck-thru

          Bound neck

I believe the quality is well shown here:

Or perhaps this is what you'd like to see:

How do they get the snowflake shapes in the flame maple?!?

            Thats badass!

Edit : second pic added. I love everything about those sabers except the jackplacement freaks me out a bit and the big plastic guide around the switch. I don't undetstand why they can't figure out a better mounting option. or at least dress it up a bit with some pot metal plate or MOP covered plate for the upscale versions.

I'm sure all the guitar manufacturers are now taking note

Many low end models also have binding. Many high end models do not. And doing something because it's what everyone else is doing is not the business model for a guitar manufacturer looking to make their own mark. What was your point again?

One of the cheapest guitars I've ever owned, an Onyx super strat with a single locking trem had binding. It was not a quality guitar.

And that's exactly why I'm offering this up as a straight swap to anyone who wants to give me a Suhr Reb Beach model. Because the neckthru & binding just scream "quality" - much better than that crappy, unbound, bolt-on Suhr

Just ignore the "Made in Taiwan".

Not that I don't like my RGX1203S. It's a good guitar. But the binding doesn't make it a better quality instrument. And I don't notice any difference in it's sustain over any of my bolt ons.

I don't like binding on guitars at all. I'd never order a custom guitar with binding. Just don't like the look of it at all.

                  These are some sweet Ibbys!

On the binding = quality note.

"Fancy shit" on a guitar to me almost seems like a coverup for lacking playability, I'm not saying that a guitar that has binding automatically sucks, but I am saying that some companies definately put out a mediocre product that sell just because they look nice **COUGH GIBSON COUGH**

I'd rather have a guitar that looks cheap that plays killer.

Mind you, I have the best of both Worlds in my 475 Deluxe, and would certainly enjoy a nice USA Jackson, but it's not the binding that makes those guitars rock the Fuckin house down

You always acquire some of the coolest guitars man! Vinnie Moore is one of my faves and a huge influence.

This one is nice too. I have Purple RGT3120 which sounds killer as well as a bolt on RG3120 in the same color as yours.

The bodies were too thin...they needed that little bit of extra clearance inside the control cavity. I agree that they look crappy but they are functional to the design of the guitar.

Yeah, I understand the need for the plate there for strength reasons, it's just the whole guitar is sleek and sexy and then you get a big plastic blob right in the middle. They should make a thin metal one capped with MOP or Abalone or some other kind of fancy dress.
