Gibson to make a Rhoads sig

I always think of Randy with the Les Paul. This is a very fitting signature model. Very cool IMO. The Marshall was done. So now all we need is an MXR Distortion+ signature pedal and we can have the same terrible tone that he had.

Randy barely played a Jackson (one or two songs in the set list on the Diary tour I believe?) and never recorded with one...the white Les Paul Custom was his go to axe so I don't have a problem with this at all.

Nah, Fender and SRV were working on the SRV model right before he was killed. It was Stevie who spec'd out the Texas Specials, the Pau Ferro and the asymetrical neck carve that matched his #1.

Most of them had maple necks. There was nothing special about it at all, just as there was nothing special about any of the reissue bursts that have proliferated the market (Page, Slash, Bloomfield, etc) or many of the Fender sig models (Blackie was a simply a copy of a 50's Fender mutt). It's about players/collectors getting a replica of what their heroes played.

I had heard that they didn't get enough Pau Ferro in time when it first went to production. But that's 20 years ago, so who knows.

My assumption (and we all know about those ) would be that it was the closest replacement once the CITES requirements were attached to Brazilian Rosewood.

Well... its a little different - Joe Middleclass might be able to swing $10K on a replica of a guitar because they can't sink $100K for a 57 strat or a quarter million for a '59 LP.

But, you can go out an buy white 70's customs all day long for a couple grand before haggling.

Not so much. Yes, they are easier to come by than the true vintage pieces, but there aren't that many when compared to other LPC finishes of that era. Additionally, dealers have been charging a substantial premium for 70's white LPCs for some time now. Randy's name alone will add a "gotta have it" factor to many of his fans, 70's white LPC price and availability be damned.

2010 The Dean Randy Rhoads Signature V!!! Hey there's a picture of him playing one, that counts right!?

Just think of the all new Rhoads models we'll be getting! The Rhoads ML, with the Rhoadsbucker pickup, The Razor Rhoads off-set V with fangs.

And although they never met in life, Dean will bring in super star psychics to design the new Dime and Rhoads inspire offset ML called the MLStarDimeRhoads with 8 strings, and slime green polka dots and fire. And a limited addition camo version with images of Dime and Randy bent over taking it from behind by some corporate flunky.

Didn't they meet? I thought there was some talk between Randy and Dean, but Dean didn't know who Randy was at the time and kind of blew him off.
