  • L.P.studio

My buds at RSguitarworks were in need of a good tube amp for their shop so I made a trade for this.
    05 Gibson L.P.studio vintage mahogony.
Cool thing this guitar was owned by Jon Shaffer of Iced Earth.
Burstbucker in the neck and DiMarzio PAF pro in the bridge.Of course it sports an RS pot upgrade kit.

I hope it wasn't too good of an amp you traded. Those Gibbys go for about 699.00 new w/case. The guitar itself is actually pretty decent, I have one myself. Good bang for the buck instrument.

I've had a few of these and they are pretty good.
I had about that in the amp so not a bad deal.
RS has given me great deals on refins, parts etc so it was a freindship type trade as well.
Everyone of these I have had only came with the gig bag.
I did get the good case as well and owning one of Jon's guitars is pretty cool. He's a great guy and a awesome player. He's going to sign the pick guard for me too.

They're a USA Gibson... they're supposed to come with a case, both the red MF version and the brown GC version. I've got an '04 red one and love it; though, I put in EMGs in place of the BB Pros.

The others I bought at pawn shops TJ and just had Gibson USA gig bags.
The case with this one is the reptile tolex and grey lining.

Could be TJ I would keep the case and give the PS dealer the bag too.
I have another case with the white lining around here somewhere.

Actually they are selling these now only with Gibson gig bags, no hard shell cases...check GC and MF web sites says with gig bag, no longer being offered with USA cases....

                still a great guitar though!!!

Well back in the early 90s all the Studios came with Hard Cases... Now the higher priced Studios come with Hard Cases... Well it could be worse, Gibson could be really cheap like ESP, Schecter, Fender, Jackson and Dean by not giving a case with their lower cost models unless it is a 1500+ guitar!

                      Cheers,
                      Charlie

Nice one! Should give for some meaty tones!

I think that's a Les Paul Special, on which someone has placed a Studio truss rod cover. I have both and the Studio is definately a carved top. Only inconsistancy I can see is I thought the Specials all had dot markers rather than traps.
                            Guitars:
                            Jackson DK2M Blue Bengal
                            Jackson PS-4
                            Charvel CX 390
                            Gibson Les Paul Studio
                            Gibson Les Paul Jr. Pro
                            Gibson Les Paul Special
                            '56 Gibson J160E
                            Galveston Acrylic Strat
                            couple of other oddities

                            Amps:
                            Vox AC100CPH
                            Ibanez TBX150H

Nope its a studio(carved top). The specials are solid flat tops.(I have one of those too)
My special has the mini trapazoid markers.
The older 80's studios had dots which I think looks good.
I would love to have an 84 studio Std.Body and neck binding with dot inlays.
