If it's a PMS, it'll probably be expensive, in the $3500+ plus range because only a small amount of them were made (15 total).
These were made with the original Bich body templates so the size should be identical to the vintage Biches. They are based on the 1977 Bich prototype.
I have played several of them at Neal's house and they are killer. The necks are fat though. The quality is top notch. Completely handmade, handcarved. Clearcoat is super thick by GMW.
I have a Moser 10 and it's a fantastic guitar. Do you have any specific questions about these?
Interesting that the string paths are different from the Bich in Pebber's other thread. (Angled line of ferules through the headstock on the BCR vs. plastic retainer on the moser PMS, String tree/retainer at the bridge end on the BCR, nothing on the Moser.)
I believe there were some slight variations in the PMS Bich line.
Some had an X2N in the bridge and there were possibly some electronics variations. I believe most had a headstock string retainer (as opposed to later Bich models and Moser 10 models which have ferrules in the headstock) and some had body string retainers.
For the longest time there was a guy in ebay (Kenny Link, a friend of Neal's, super cool guy) that had his PMS up on ebay for like $10k or something like that. I think he just had it up there to see if anyone would pay that kind of cash. He has dropped it to $7900:
Neal kept a PMS for himself that he said he would sell for an outrageous amount.
It wouldn't surprise me if in 10-15 years that these sell for major cash. But right now there's not enough awareness of just how well built and great these guitars are and there's that whole economy thang getting in the way. Plus, they're pointy with extra strings and a lot of knobs and there's no iconic rock start attachment. Sure Joe Perry, Lita Ford, and others played them but they never got the love like Jacksons, Charvels, Gibsons, etc. did. BC Rich helped bury their own brand. Neal is making guitars like BCR used to and it's just a hard sell.
I *think* the original sale price was right around $2500 and they sold very quickly.
The original plan was to have Neal build them then BCR would sell them and there would be like 25 of them. BCR got like 2 of them then decided they didn't want to be involved. There's some drama to the story which I'm sure you can dig up on the Moser forum. So Neal sold the remaining ones. They had R logos because BCR commissioned them. So are they MCS guitars or BC Rich guitars? There was a lot of debate on that. In the end, it doesn't really matter because Neal and Sal Gonzales built them (Sal was an original BCR employee) so the vintage love went into making them.
If you get one, you have a 1 of a kind guitar built to late 70's specs and you're guaranteed that Neal will never make an exact duplicate. BCR will probably try at some point and get all the details completely wrong
You can always get him to build a Moser 6 or Moser 10. It won't have the "exclusivity" of the PMS, but it'll play just as well and you can get whatever wood/hardware you want.
