  • Tempting... BC Rich Exotic 10 String

I've been GASing for one of these. I don't know if I should pull the trigger. I can't find one to play in person, so I can only judge by reviews and my past BC Rich guitars. Seems pretty sweet...

Also, which one do you think has the better spalted maple top? The auction I'm looking at lets you pick the serial number and these two are my top picks.

The first one has those great black lines that make spalted maple so nice, but the second has a nice grain and rich color.

I kind of wish the middle section (between the ebony "stringers") didn't have a veneer, so the maple neck would show through the front.

Buy it or pass? If buy, how much would you spend?

Both are nice, but I prefer the top one.

At first I liked the top one more. Then the bottom one kind of grew on me. Now I can't choose. Maybe one of them will get sold and that'll make the choice for me - even though that would be kind of lame.

I prefer the second one, being it's darker/got more constrast to it.

The top is better. It really does have nice spalted maple.

I was in the same situation, wanting a 10 string bich but couldn't find one to try
so I bought one anyway, the basic onyx bich 10.
lovely guitar, I don't regret it at all, and if you're in the USA, then you'll get the exotic classic 10 for less than I paid for my black one
the standard Rockfield pups have really impressed me, I've got DiMarzios and J90s in my parts box, and have no need to swap them into it
to be honest, it needed a DAMN good setup out of the box, just about everything needed adjusting apart from intonation: truss rod, action, saddle heights, and it's still got a bit of a high fret on the top E at around the 21st fret, but I'll get my friendly tech to stone that down eventually, it's not enough of a problem to make playability an issue
I've had a couple of guitars from music farm too, they've been really good in my experience, if you DO pull the trigger, say hi to Todd for me

go on, you know you want to

ps - depending on your preferred genre, more than a feeling and in my darkest hour sound AWESOME on a 10 string
