Redyeing the purple flamey strat...

you can't really clear it after the first application b/c it raises the grain and gets all velvety feeling. it was kinda neat, but it had to be sanded back.

wilkinsi, it's regular flamed maple, but it just has a really neat grain pattern.

shawn, not sure if it'll fade again; it's possible, but i hope not!

After that first stage is my favourite dye colour/pattern ever! Its like the blue burst dinky's of the late 90's but deeper and more awesome. I'd love to give this a go some day.

it looks like a burst in the pictures, but it's just the picture. it's just one application of purple dye.

it'd have clear on it by now if i hadn't had a slight sand thru with the sealer. no biggie, and i'll still most likely be clearing it mondayish. then it gets to sit for a month while the nitro cures (and bores me). good thing i have other stuff to work on, but i tell ya, i miss shooting poly.
