I wonder if you applied the dye in a more "burst" type pattern if it wouldn't have enhanced it more. That is a really interesting top for sure though. I definitely dig the sullycaster.

I dig the grain and I think the new dye job looks it like it will turn out fantastic. I'm looking forward to seeing the final results.

i've got some sealer on it at the moment and it got a bit bluer, which kinda bums me out, but it still looks like a cool color. i'll get some more pix up later this week.

Looked like a lot more contrast after the first application. Why not stop there and clear it? Either way it looks great!

Wow, didn't think it'd be possible to make that thing look classier.

Also it looked pretty kickass in red.

That pattern is really nice. It's like having quilt and maple veneer bookmark thingy at the same time. Er, what do you call that pattern you got on that? Cuz I'm stumped.. Anyway, I do like the one pre-refinish best, tho I did like the other colours you tried.

you could if the quilt top is not just a veneer, most of those are paper thin to 1/42 thick. You would sand right through it. Can you see the thickness from the side? I know the 2002 charvels that came from the pc3 had a 1/8 quilt top, but I never had a pc3 to check if the bodies were the same.

looks good Sully. Will it fade again or will the sealer and clear prevent that?

After that first stage is my favourite dye colour/pattern ever! Its like the blue burst dinky's of the late 90's but deeper and more awesome. I'd love to give this a go some day.
