    Can you help me?

I have a problem with the wiring on my 750XL.

All I need to know is the position of the (usually blue) jumper wires on the megaswitch.

I guess even a photo would do it all in one go!

If anyone can help I'd be extremely grateful.

Man, I can't thank you enough sacredgruvn. That's right on the money. I'm going to try and see if I can get my 750 back in action now. Might have to come back and ask if I can't quite get a few wires right. Looks like the far wafer in your fist pic has tw wires connected to the third lug (possibly the third). Is that right? Guess I'll do some experimenting if not!

Thanks for these two new pics sacredgruvn. I can see immediately that I got one wire wrong. In your second pic (of your second post) there's a wire that's basically tucked right down next to the switch body (running off the second terminal from the left pointing towards us) I was wondering where does that go?

Hope you know the one I mean.

I think after this is done I might send a wiring diagram to Audiozone, as it totally lacks a 750XL wiring diagram!

There's this diagram for the switch in the electronics manual:

              (lower right)

Not nearly as useful as sacredgruvn's pic, though!

I really do not think that's the same wiring unless I read it wrong. I tried to wire to that and it didn't work.

Could be. There are a lot of ways you can wire it, and I've never compared it to a 750 or Model 5.

Out of curiosity, what pickups are you using, and were the jumpers taken off at some point? Just asking because I had to do a bit of rethinking of my wiring a couple of times when I mixed Duncan/Jackson, then went with both Duncans in my 750XL, but never changed the jumper positions, just where the pickup leads were wired.

No could be about it in my mind!

THe diagram is totally different. On the top wafer, the diagram has loops alternating starting from the output terminal upwards. Real 750 as you can see from the pics posted above has a long jumper wire over three terminals.

                    There's obviously more.

I know that catalog came before the 750, so maybe they chose a new scheme to wire to for the 750.

Anyway, with the help of sacredgruvn's pics I got my 750XL back in action.

I ahd changed pickups so many times that I knew which pickup wires went where and even had them diagrammed, but had lost the first diagram I did where the blue jumper wires were sketched in. So when, this wiring session, some blue wires came loose, I screwed it all up trying to fix it.

Made it worse trying to use an old Tonerider pickup with little to no info on which wire was what. Ended up using an Dimarzio Evo Neck and a PAF PRO for bridge. Back in action and sounding great.

                    Can't thank you enough, sacredgruvn.

This 750XL I'm restoring doesn't have the megaswitch shownin the pictures, it just has basic aftermarket switch from stewmac, so obviously the original owner changed it. Any suggestion on where I can obtain OEM electronics parts to restore it?

Man....that's going to be tricky, Cjpalo. You'd need the JE-0005 switch Jackson made, to make it truly original. To get one of those maybe wait on ebay to find one there.

The megaswitch you have will work, no doubt. Stewmac has a lot of wiring diagrams for them, as does guitar electronics website.

Or more importantly, without kick-ass forums like this?

"Back in the day" if I had screwed the wiring up like I had, I'd have probably have to ask a tech to ask a dealer to ask Charvel who'd take 4 weeks (if ever) to send a postcard or letter in really poor quality printing (maybe photocopied from a photocopy), from Ft Worth, internationally (taking another 6 weeks) before my dealer got it, handed it to a tech, who'd then charge me £20 to fix it + £10 for covering costs of getting the info.

                              (Or maybe not ?)
