If the price is fair buy it anyway.Sounds like a great guitar.The Floyd nuts were a transitional thing from 89 -90 they could be found both ways.
I found a model 6 with the guitar shaped logo with the Kahler style floyd nut.
It was in rainbow crackle too.

I thought that model 6s either had the kahler nut or the jt6 copy of the kahler nut. Floyd nuts started with the 650s

I don't want a 3DR because I want the schaller-jackson trem found on the predator.

Then just ask the seller what kind of bridge is on there and your done with the call. The Schaller with say "Made in Germany by Schaller" right by the floyd bar collar. If he aint blind, he should see it. If the fine tuners are barrels that u turn which are parallel to the string, it's a JT6 so junk it!..j/k, I still use em on some guitars, but the Schaller is better made.

Just for giggles, ask em what kind of nut lock there. A true behind the nut lock or a Floyd style. I had a late transition 3DR with a Kahler-made Floyd style that had a built-in string tree, which I thought was a nice touch...but it too had a JT6 so I sold the whole thing!

Rich the model 6 I was talking about had the Kahler floyd style nut.It threw me off too but it was factory.The trem was a Schaller.
I passed on it because he wanted $800.00 and at that time way too much to pay for it.

I wonder if instead of the JT6 the model series almost have killer or spider trems.

Thats the nut it had Rich.
The early model 2's had the Kahler fulcrum trem then they switced to the JT-6.

I was just assuming that they would've gone with their new trems since that nut was used with the killer and spider trems.

Going back to the original issue/question. I would say that if it has a guitar-shaped logo it is, at the very least, a 3DR neck. (remember, there are differences between the Predator and 3DR bodies) The production year for the 3DR is 1988, the Predator is 1990-1991. This is long after they transitioned to the script logo. I believe it's pretty unlikely that there are "transitional" Predators out there. I'm thinking neck-swap.

3dr has guitar logo and behind the nut lock and is a little thicker of a neck.
predator has toothpaste floyd nut and a very thin neck.
I actually prefer the feel of the 3dr neck I had.

I think I'm dealing with a hybrid here, but I'll get it as long as it has the right bridge and doesn't have a behind-the-nut lock.

Not all of them had the nut and string lock. Some came with the Kahler locking nut. I've got one of each.
