  • Model 4 Partial refret

Bought this a while back & finally got around to fixing it.
Someone screwed up the nut & first 3 frets.
My guess is, they wanted to go with a heavy E string, tried to widen the nut slot & filed too deep.
So then they took a file to the frets.
    Made a mess.

    Trashed nut & frets.

    New frets

    Another nut

    Set up

    String height - .021 @ 1st fret, 3/32 @ 15th, .011 relief @ 7th.
Less than $25 & back in business.

The prudes may snub them, but I don't care.
    I dont need furniture.
If its tough, shreds, and screams, Its all good.
If it gets jacked, I'll get another one.
    And rock that sucker.

Good job!! I've done a few level, recrown & polishes but haven't acquired the testical fortitude to pull and replace frets yet. I'm slowly working toward that.Like the old saying goes,"Need to learn how to walk before you can run".NICE MODEL 4!!!

Completely off subject...but does anyone know exactly which of the Model Series Charvels were available in the firecrackle finish?

        Those that I know:
        Model 6
        Model 5A
        Model 5FX
        Model 4
        Model 3 DR
Predator (don't think this one is actually a Model series though).

Any more that anyone can think of?
I'm thinking of maybe picking up one of each if I can find them.

Seen Firecrackle Spectrum's. Not sure if any Model 8s were.
Model 8 must be damn rare. Never see em.

Nice job Tricky, and nice firecrackle.

Being afraid of fret work, how hard do you think it would be to refret and entire neck?

In my perfect world, every guitar would have jumbo frets.

Damn, I wondered why my strap wouldn't work.

I went ahead & stripped it down for a good clean & polish since I was working on it anyway. Good thing too, that strap screw was bent.
Only other thing I found, was a small dent in the clear under the Floyd.
